Greetings From Tampa!

I'm in Tampa with Chris, Kylie, Tabitha and Katelynn! Tomorrow we go to TAMPA BAY COMIC CON!!!!!! This isn't Katelynn's first con but for the rest of us it is our first, and we are super excited to see all the cosplays and to cosplay ourselves for the first time XD Our trip has been amazing so far and the company has been absolutely smashing. We plan to film every second of the day tomorrow so we can make Milissa feel like she was there too since she sadly couldn't make it. Lots more to come!!!

Comic Con Cosplay

I am super excited for Thursday and Friday to roll around. Why? BECAUSE I AM GOING TO TAMPA BAY COMIC CON!!!! YAY!!!!!

I am going with Chris, Katelynn, Tabitha, and maybe Chris’s little sister. Milissa was going to go but for family reasons that I don’t feel it is my place to talk about, can’t anymore. Chris’s sister will get her ticket if all works out. We have a room for the night before the con. Since we areonly going for the first day, we got the room for Thursday so we can be

well rested before we get in the lines early Friday morning. It is my first con and I am ecstatic!!!

Originally I was going to do something simple for my cosplay for the con. I was going to be hipster ariel. I had these cute green pants and a purple top with my red wig and hipster glasses. Just so I would be wearing something but not too complicated. I want to be able to move around and I don’t know what to really expect because this is my first con after all.

But I have always wanted to cosplay female InuYasha and I wanted it to be the first thing I ever cosplay at a con….. so of course now that’s its crunch time I decided to sew together a kimono and complete the cosplay, last second, with only basically 4 days to complete it with a nonexistent budget. I managed to get my hands on a good amount of fabric and I already have the wig and ears. I can make claws from my acrylic nail kits and I saw a tutorial on YouTube on how to make fangs with plastic nails as well. I can probably manage it. Hopefully.

The biggest thing is figuring out the design. I have been contemplating the design for years now and I have to decide RIGHT NOW. There is the design where its just inuyasha’s kimono but longer so it’s a short dress. Theres the design I found on tumblr that is more girly with orange accents. Then there is battle InuYasha where I would be wearing hakama pants and

I would wrap my torso with bandages and fake blood. I had decided on the longer original design but with some personal additions and accents. I am just making the basic kimono now. I made his necklace yesterday out of a leather cord, wood beads and baking clay. I just have to paint it now.

 The kimono is rather plain but I am considering stitching random lines in yellow and orange on the obi which is red. This way it kind of pays homage to a lot of fan art where grown up InuYasha has armor and flame printed sashes.

Its till a work in progress but I have gotten a lot done already. I worked for over 12 hours straight since 5 something yesterday and just stopped about 2 hours ago x.x

OOTD 7/27/14

I think this outfit is super cute with the stripes and platform flip flops. I ended up painting my nails to match my shoes but of course it was after I took the pictures. I feel that the curly hair really ties the summer look together.

My Cosmetology Kit

When I got back home to Chris’s dads, I opened up the box and took out all the pieces that were in there and took inventory. There was A LOT in there. Including three heads. They have really wide eyes and its super creepy and they came with names. There is Zoey with plain longer brown hair, Naomi with an afro, and Tammie who has her hair separated into four sections and each section is a different color for color treatment training. Chris and I hid them around the house to scare his parents. Tammie was in the fridge, Naomi was in their bed and Zoey was in their bathroom. When Kim came home she came in the door and went right to their room to go to sleep and we didn’t hear anything and she hasn’t come out yet so I don’t think we scared her. We got his dad with Tammie though.

There was so much in the kit; my only complaint was the kit was a duffle bag. My friend Milissa had a hard plastic rolling case for hers when she was in school. Mine is too bulky and too easy to be smushed with all my new electricals inside. The kit came with a new hair dryer, a curling iron, a flat iron, a set of electric clippers, a clamp for the heads, a scissor set, a few capes, a bunch of brushes, combs, clips, piks, dying tools and tools for mani and pedi classes. 

School Shopping

Today I met with Mama Boots at IRSC to get all of my school supplies and my uniform. We ended up getting the supplies, the scrubs, the polo, my parking decal, my ID and I got a free IRSC shirt (GO PIONEERS!!!)

When I was on my way to meet mom at the school, the sky was clear here in Port St. Lucie. But between here and Fort Pierce, I hit a wall of rain on I95. I happened to be wearing flats today so I was supper happy that I always keep a pair of boots in my car for those rainy days that take you by surprise. Being a Floridian, it’s a good idea to be prepared for sudden rain considering how insane the weather patterns are here. "If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes" is practically the state's motto lol. Most people keep sneakers in their car if anything but why not be fashionable about it? My only real complaint about having to change shoes is that I didn’t have any socks so it felt icky sticky wearing the boots.  But seriously rain, what do?

After me and mom got to the school, I had to try on different size uniforms for half an hour just so Mama

Boots could rest easy knowing everything fit properly. For the Cosmetology department at IRSC, students are required to wear black scrub pants with either a black school scrub top with the Cosmetology logo on

the left side of the chest or a black polo with the same thing and a giant logo in the back. The polo made me feel like I was wearing a bowling shirt with the collar and design on the back. I’m just not used to collared shirts like that, but I love it still. =) and the whole time we were there we were entertaining the school store cashier with our usual back and forth and with mom making a mess of the place. And before we left the store, we picked up the incredible expensive Cosmetology kit. The box was huge and a pain to carry around.

After we left the book store I wanted to stop at the school merch shop next door and price check for a school hoodie. I have two shirts and a lanyard from AI and it’s depressing to have merch from a school I can’t attend anymore so I want merch from my new school. I saw a nice $20 hoodie and a cute pink $10 bag that I want but I have no money DX And while we were in there I found a section of imported makeup and such

from Boots! I know it sounds stupid but I’m just exited that I have access to it because I see bloggers like Zoe from Zoella and Rhiannon from Fashion Rocks My Socks talk about shopping there. I know it’s just the equivalent of our Walgreens here but still XD

And before we left the merch shop the cashier told us I could pick up my student ID and we were off to student services from there. They took a few pictures before I settled for one to use on my ID. The lighting wasn’t exactly flattering in there but I made do and I am rather happy now that I have my ID hanging from my rear view mirror in my car. And while we were there, I got my parking sticker and noticed a flyer for a free school shirt for students to pick up at the merch store if you have paid for your classes… WHICH MOM HAD. I was soooo happy to be able to walk away with merch from my school. Now I have my new shirt, my Cosmetology polo, and my Cosmetology scrub shirt. YAY!!!

After that Mama Boots and I just went to a nice lunch in down town Fort Pierce at Rinelli’s Yellow Tail Restaurant. It was nice besides the fact the speaker that was filling the restaurant with music was on its way out. It kept going mute and it was really annoying but the food was good and the laughs were great as always with Mama Boots. It was a great day.

Simple

What a wonderful phrase. And in the spirit of my fortune cookie, I am enjoying the simple things tonight and I'm going to just blog and catch up on some manga and fanfiction rather than work tonight as I enjoy my chicken pot pie and sweet iced tea. =)

Beach Hair

So I tried a new product today. "Not Your Mother's" brand "Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray". And so far I am absolutely loving it. It is infused with real dead sea salt and sea kelp. The spray is easy to use, smells great, and can be used on wet or dry hair, with or without a blow dryer. My hair hasn't fallen flat all day and is still touchable soft, even with the visible piecey texture. I give it a 10/10

School Costs

Got my letter today that I was officially accepted into the cosmetology program at IRSC.... The letter came with a list of things I will need. The price of the text book is $75 from the school bookstore x.x I found a cheaper one online and I found one I can rent. Looks like there is no ebook. And then I need black scrubs and a school cosmetology program polo. And the biggest thing I will need is a cosmetology kit. You know, the box full of styling and cutting supplies? I couldn't find a price from the school but online it can break $300 DX
 My mom is going to have a heart attack x.x

MOVED!!!!!!!

Chris and I moved yesterday. We have moved into his dads house for the next few months until we can save enough for our own place and for Chris to get a new car. It was tough, especially considering that I am still technically recovering from my surgery back in April. I did not have a speedy recovery and because of the time it took to heal, I haven’t done much moving around and it made moving really hard to do. We rented a van and Chris’s father helped us. Chris and I filled our cars up and took two trips each between the apartment and his dads house. We still have a crap ton at the old apartment but we will be all moved in soon. =) Oliver is staying with us until Friday or Saturday, and then he will be staying with my mom until we get our own place. He has to stay on the patio for now and comes in with us at night. he has been taking it well so far but I don’t like it much =(

Packing X.x

My boyfriend Chris and I are moving to the next town over to stay with his family for a while until we can get our own apartment. We WERE going to move next weekend but now we are moving Tuesday..... and we havent started packing yet. I just packed a tiny bit but we have alot of work to do. If there is one thing I learned when moving from home, it is that what may seem like not that much stuff, turns into mountains to pack. We are going to need more boxes x.x

Slurpee Day!!!! XD

Today is July 11th which is 7/11 day!!! YAY!!! FREE SLERPEES!!! From 11am to 7pm, You can come in and get a free small Slurpee. I told my mom about it and before I left her house for home we made sure to get a cup. She got Wild Cherry while I tried the Pina Colada. Absolutely delicious. Living in Florida where the summer gets hot as balls, its nice to have a yummyful Slurpee to beat the heat. =P

Blue Wig

Milissa sent me selfies she took wearing my blue wig the other day. She looks fabulous and its the exact color she always wanted XD Just look at this lovely lady X3

Milissa's Birthday

Soooooooo, Milissa's birthday was on Sunday the 6th. I got her Maybelline Eye Studio Master Drama Eyeliner and she loved it XD She also put on my blue wig but sadly I didn’t think to snap a photo of her wearing it DX

Our friend Katelynn was there too when I got there and the three of us and Milissa’s mommy chatted till we went to go get pizza and by the time we got back Tabitha was there. Soon after David showed up and brought Milissa her “present” which we immediately cracked open! 

The 6 of us danced and drank and goofed off in the kitchen all night. 

After dinner Milissa’s sister drove us to go get snacks then we lit off a few smoke bombs and sparklers I brought that were left over from the 4th.  

Everyone left but I slept We were exhausted because it was a super fun night. Ended up falling asleep to The Nanny XD

Heavy Fabrics

So last night I made a bed spread for the day bed at Mama Boots’ house. It was super hard work and took forever. My hands are killing me from maneuvering all the fabric around. It is soooo freakin hard to sew when you have like 20 pounds of quilting fabric and fluff to move around and get under a little needle. Speaking of needles, I had to get a new sewing machine too. Turns out the sewing machine Chris had got me last Christmas was defective from the beginning. The whole line has a timer problem but mom picked up a new Singer Simple that was on sale at Joann’s. I think the only reason she got it was because she really really REALLY wanted me to finish her bed spread. This unfortunately was my 4th machine now, which is why my mom was reluctant to get me another. My first machine literally blew up. I was working with denim and some material got in the lower part of the machine where the bobbin goes and got stuck, which broke something, that bounced around in the main part of the machine, and then the inside caught on fire and started to smoke....... yeah. And then my aunt sent me her old machine that ended up broken in the mail. And then the defective one Chris got me. And now I am on my latest and this one works great and it’s super easy to use. Now that I have enough strength to use one again, I can work on my cosplays I have lined up!!! YAY!!!!

My 4th of July, OOTD HOTD

W00t!!!! Tis be the 4th and we set little fireworks off at moms. I finally got to fire off the big and loud fireworks I have been dying to light since forever. We got the big ones for new years back in 2012 and we couldn't set them off this whole time because they are so loud and big and me and my room mates live in an apartment complex. But Mama Boots went to the dollar store and picked up a bunch of little fireworks and candy to get us through the weekend. My inner Pyro was most please XD

My outfit for the 4th started with a pair of cut offs I just made the night before because I didn't have any denim shorts to wear and lets be honest, nothing says summer or 4th of July like jean cut off shorts. They were a pair of baggyish jeans I had picked up from Goodwill a few weeks ago and I cut them to be longer than short shorts but shorter than bermuda shorts. I threw them in the wash a few times to give the ends a worn look. I layered a bright blue spaghetti strap top with a red, white and blue tiedye tank and topped it off with a super bleached vest I had made out of an old jean jacket years ago (the back says "Undercover Skittle Ninja". On my feet I wore a pair of thrifted platforms with denim denim straps. Super cute.

And as for my hair, I am wearing my bright red Ariel wig with my  blue Hatsune Miku pony tail clips. The Miku clips were a set that came with a base wig and the clips actually came curly when I ordered them. The ones I actually wanted were a bit shorter and strait with a bit of a wave at the end to the point where its just a little flip but it ended up being curly. And it was SUPER curly too. And with the curls in individual locks, it took forever to brush the curls out but I managed it. I actually worked with the clips for about 2 hours or so, just brushing and styling. I wanted to make them into buns but it just wasn't working out so i braided them and ended up loving the final outcome. and with them tied off at the top of the braid, it kind of looks like they are little buns with braids coming out so it was a bit of a win win.  =)

Blog name

Sooooo…. It took me forever to come up with a blog name. Every name I came up with was already taken. “The Freak Chic Critique”, “Pretty in Punk”, “Runway Streets”,  “Age of Aquarius Apperal”. I even blog blocked myself way back in 2011 by making a blog with my nick name “Jezzie13” and I didn’t even have one post. But as I scour the internet and look at other bloggers, I see a lot of them use their real names or variations. After all the trouble I went through to find a good name, I wonder if I should change the name once again? I don’t think I will but I wonder if I will regret it one day…..
