Pearly Whites

And no, I'm not talking about teeth. Decided to paint my nails last night just to have something to do and I chose to use my "Tokyo Pearl" nail polish from Sinful Colors. Its a cute polish but there is something about it that it just doesn't look good with only one coat if its on a real nail. (It looks great on acrylics though.) And if you brush on more than one coat on real nails, then the polish just slides off whole the next day. I got it for a cosplay I will be doing in the future but as of right now I just apply it for the fun of painting my nails but without any of the commitment.

End of the Month Brush Cleaning

Its the end of the month! That means its brush cleaning time! To be honest, you should really clean your brushes every week; hair and makeup alike. But who has time or even remembers? Not me, that's for sure. So I make a point to at least do them every month and the end of the month is just convenient for me. All you need to clean out your brushes are a pair of tweezers, an unused toothbrush and some shampoo. OH! and all of your brushes of course. =D Just pull all the hair out and scrub it down really well with the toothbrush and shampoo. its simple really. Then just rinse them well and set them brissles down on a wash cloth to dry over night and WALA!!! Clean oil free brushes!

Lovely night of sewing

I had a lovely evening. I was home alone and decided to do a bit of sewing and watch a movie. I have these cotton cuffed shorts that always unroll so I decided to point sew the cuffs in place. I chose to point sew it because it makes the cuff look more natural. I DO own pins but I hate to use them on anything but my mannequin since I have a bit of a fear of sharp objects (which is kinda of funny because I use a sewing machine which has a needle that moves at like a million miles per hour lol) so I used a few of my many colorful bobby pins to keep the cuffs in place.  And I had to go out to get more needles because my old pack went missing -.- i also fixed a pair of jeans that the hem came undone on the back left pant leg. i only did a loop stitch since my mom is taking me to Joanns Fabrics for a new bobbin case so I can use my machine again. She is also giving me a project today so I am super excited!

I suck at Sleep: My Sleep Story

Sleep? What is sleep? Oh yeah, it’s that thing I never was good at. Oh, don't get me wrong; I can sleep for hours! Just it’s not exactly helpful when I don't actually fall asleep until around 6am. Anyone can tell you that you need a good night’s rest to be at your best. Having a regular sleep schedule is super important to stay on top. Sleep reduces stress, improves memory and can even help you lose weight! And of course I am absolutely horrible at it. I always have been. Ever since I was little I had trouble sleeping at night.

It is common knowledge that the brain is super active during sleep which is why we dream. Well it seems mine goes into overdrive more than usual when I sleep. And most people have 4 to 6 dreams a night and won’t remember most of them; while I will have anywhere between 10 and 15! And more often than not I can recount them all crystal clearly when I wake up. Well for a few hours anyway and I try to always write the good ones down. And then there are some that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Like “Memuary the 82nd , year 2001” or thousands of my mom’s dog Cocoa running around the house but they are all about
the size of an oompa loompa. Don’t ask. I also have premonitions in my dreams. They can transpire the next day but usually it is sometime in the next month or so and when they do, the déjà vu gives me headaches. I have had them since I was a child and it runs in my family but I will touch more on this later.

Either way, the whole dream thing can’t actually happen if I don’t go to bed first! When I was little the rule was that if I couldn’t sleep I could do whatever I wanted as long as I stayed in my room and tried not to wake anyone. The rule actually came to be because I used to clean at night to keep myself busy and my mom actually had to confiscate the vacuum from me and hide it and looking back I think it’s hilarious. In the end my mom got

me a TV and I would watch cartoon network until adult swim came on and that is how I discovered my favorite anime InuYasha. Now that I am much older I realize the fanfiction is much better though *wink wink*

ANYWAY!!!! As I got older and I started school earlier I learned how to run on only about 3 hours of sleep regularly. I would usually not fall asleep until around 3ish and mom took the TV away so I had to find other things to do. That was a great creative period for me. I realized the less sleep I was
running on, the better my art was. There are quite a few water color splatters on the ceiling in my old room from late night paint sessions. And quite a few epic pairs of painted jeans too. (I wore a pair in my senior photos XD you can see them on my About Me post.)

And the biggest problem with only getting 3 hours of sleep and running to school all week was the usual Friday crash. I would come home, usually fall asleep around 10 and not crawl out of bed till Saturday night or even Sunday morning. About three times I even slept till Sunday Moring, waking up around 4am, and then I would proceed to eat everything in the house because I would wake up starving.

In high school me and mom fought about me being up all night my laptop (by then I discovered InuYasha fanfiction *teehee*) so she had a rule that I had to keep it in the kitchen in its case at night. It didn’t last a single night. I used to sneak out of my room and swap the laptop out with textbook so it looked like it was still in the case and then I would switch it back before I crashed. I actually just told her that I would swap them just the other
day and she laughed (Couldn’t really ground me anymore now could she? HA!)

And all through high school and up until this past April, one of the major reasons I can’t fall asleep is because I would be in too much pain. My back flares up at night, especially when it rains. And since surgery, I have had severe sciatica and it’s just as bad as the herniated disks were. And since steroid injections (which didn’t help) my right hip has been killing me so throw that in the mix. I’m just a giant bundle of pain and problems, don’t mind me.

I have been between colleges and sadly I am currently between jobs because of surgery and recovery, my sleep schedule is surprisingly tame. I sleep from about 4am to about noon now so I’m getting my 8 hours, but the timing makes it unhealthy still. And Chris works nights so when he gets home at around 7:30 I usually wake up for a bit before falling asleep again. But some nights I don’t fall asleep till he gets home. And for the last month or so I actually have been having a few
nights when I don’t sleep at all and it really throws me off. These days my biggest problems are pain and my infinite access to the internet and all of its glorious wonders like fanfiction.net, Facebook, Netflix, Hulu and mangareader.net and there is no one to take it away from me here.

I’ve tried to read a regular book instead of looking at a screen all night but I end up just reading till the sun comes up anyway. I have a small collection of manga and a couple of books I *cough cough* “borrowed” from the library back home that just never went back…..oops? I just get super wrapped up when reading it can be hours before I put it down.
Not gona lie sometimes if no one is around I won’t even take a break to use the bathroom, I’ll just take it in with me.

Another problem is that with my late night history, I feel like a wimp if I get sleepy before at least 2am. I guess it’s turned into a pride thing. I feel like such a wimp when I tell friends about me never sleeping till really late and then at sleepovers I crash before them. It isn’t a competition but I guess deep down I take a little pride in my sleep patterns? Heaven, hell
and everything in between know my sleep patterns are far from healthy but I still think that way sometimes….im just a weirdo. So I am close to breaking 1,200 words for this post so I better stop now. Good night everyone! Or good morning? Who knows? =D

Rebel Red

Love my Savvy nail polish. Nathan found it on the ground in the parkinglot of my complex and it was such a lucky find. Goes on thin but the color is perfect so it doesn't take a million coats. Love it. =)

Hair Mask Recipe

Herro! So tonight I decided to take my hair growth routine up a notch and do a mask. Its super easy and smells yummyful X3

So start with a mixing bowl. I used my Ion Color Brilliance bowl and brush but any bowl will do and you could just use your hands but its super sticky x.x And then I poured 2 tbs of my favorite African Pride Olive Miracle Olive oil treatment. This smells super good. I cant quite place the scent but it's fruity and quite strong. Next was 2 tbs of all natural Clover Honey. If you use the same measuring spoon you used for the oil, the honey should slide right off. And finally 1/2 tsp of Coconut Oil. I just used a cheap small jar I found on discount a while back. Now mix it well and pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds, then remix to make sure it's smooth. Now you are ready to apply it to your scalp and pull it through with a comb to the ends. You want to do this quickly while the mixture is still warm because as it cools it gets thicker and stickier. Once all the mixture is in your hair, cover your head with a shower cap or plastic bag or plastic wrap to keep in the heat and cover with a towel for extra warmth.  Wait for at least 20 mins. You can leave it for as long as you like. Just don't fall asleep with it. Now rinse with lukewarm water. Not hot but not cold. Don't use conditioner unless you feel you really need it and air dry if possible but you can blow dry on low or just warm.

OOTD 6/20/14

Going out to dinner with my mom and sister. I absolutely love this JW dress I thrifted. I think the empire waist is super flattering. And I originally was going to wear my Euro Sofft heels but I'm still a bit wobbly since I'm still recovering from surgery so I switched to my Jennifer Lopez low wedge boots instead.

Little Dress and Denim Jacket

If there is a single trend I want to rock this summer, its the little flowy dress with a denim jacket with the sleeves rolled up. Match it with cute cowgirl boots or wedge sandals....*squeee* XD

OOTD 6/19/14

Went to Chris's Grandmothers for his mom's birthday dinner. I decided to wear the new Spider Man top Chris got me X3. I'm wearing my black Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez tube top under my Marvel brand tank. I adore the lace back on the top. Cute and unexpectedly girly to balance the awesomeness of Spiderman. I absolutly adore these No Boundaries color block leggings. They are super comfy and I love the black on the inner calfs. Great for DeadPool themed outfits as well. And lastly I have on my chunky sleek Etienne Aigner wedge heels. They have this nice little cushion on the back to protect from blisters.

My New Hair Growth System - Progress Report Week 1

I started my new hair growth system just under a week ago and I have definitely noticed my hair is thicker and softer and I feel its just a tiny bit longer. By only about 2, 2 1/2 mm but still an improvement for my sadly slow growing hair.
I start with a hot Olive oil treatment. I warm up about 1oz of the oil in the microwave for about 30 seconds (You want it warm but NOT HOT) and then I massage it into my scalp. After massaging for about 2 minutes I lay with my head upside down for about 5 minutes.
After the oil treatment, I take a shower and use my Mane 'n Tail shampoo and conditioners (for horses AND for humans!) I shampoo twice. (1st time to clean away any build-up, the oil, and anything else nasty in my hair. And the 2nd is to really clean my scalp.) And then I massage in the conditioner and let it sit as I do the rest of my shower routine. Then I rinse out the conditioner and before I get out, I blast my scalp with ice cold water to close my pores and seal in all the nutrients from the conditioner.
When I'm out of the shower I rewash my face and blow dry my hair till its nice and fluffy. I dont usually use other products unless I plan to curl my hair or a volume for events.
I try to wash my hair every other day but it doesnt always happen. But so far I have used this system for like I said just under a week and im loving the results. I just wish I could speed up the process a bit.
